POLICIES:

CANADA FOOD BOOTH PARTICIPATION POLICY:

Recognizing that the purpose of selling ethnic foods in the park on Canada Day is not intended for commercial gain, but is primarily to share our many cultures with fellow Canadians using the profits from such sales to not only defray the costs of mounting the Canada Day events but to help develop our member organizations.

That the acceptance of any food booth application shall also be subject to a decision of the Board of Governors, and further, that applicants
representing a legally constituted society or association which speaks for a distinct cultural group in the city (e.g.; a full member of the Kamloops Multicultural Society) shall be given first priority, and that secondary priorities be given to associate members or commercial enterprises who offer a distinct cultural cuisine not already supplied by another applicant.

Where there is more than one applicant representing a specific cultural cuisine, no more than two may be accepted, with preference given to those having an investment in equipment and infrastructure because of participation in previous years.

And as commercial enterprises do not contribute to the support of either a cultural organization or the costs of mounting Canada Day activities; a suitable fee to compensate shall be set for any commercial enterprise taking part in food booth sales. This fee is payable prior to the event.
